Fifty years ago, Apollo 11 Commander Neil Armstrong set foot on the moon’s surface and declared, “That’s one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind.” We recall that historic moment with this year’s design of our 9-acre corn maze.
You can hear Armstrong for yourself from this NASA recording from July 20, 1969.
The other oft-quoted phrase from that historic day is also Armstrong’s. He states, “The Eagle has landed,” a reference to the lunar module he and co-pilot Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin set down on the moon’s surface.
The character Buzz Lightyear from the “Toy Story” movies is based on Buzz Aldrin, the second man to walk on the moon.
